About This Course

This course provides students a comprehensive framework and practical foundation on the design, implementation and management concepts of database systems. The critical database fundamentals including data query, data integrity, database design, normalization and views, database implementation and administration are covered. In addition, techniques for improving database performance are introduced.

Course Staff

Dr. Wong Wai Kit

Dr Wong obtained his PhD in computer science from The University of Hong Kong in 2011. Dr Wong's researches cover data mining, database, security and cloud computing. He has published in leading database venues including SIGMOD and VLDB/PVLDB.


Dr.Tse-Tin Chan

Dr. Tse-Tin Chan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computing at the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK). He received his B.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in Information Engineering from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). His research interests are Wireless Communications and Networking, Communication Theory, Machine Learning, and Data Science.
